Ken Wilkerson Army

Ken Wilkerson has dedicated his life to serving our country and our community, he’s ready to use a lifetime of experience to deliver the results Killeen families expect.

“Being raised by a public servant and veteran of two wars, I grew up learning the value of putting one’s country and community first. Having grown up in Georgia, I joined the US Army as a Paratrooper in 1988 and worked my way up to the rank of Master Sergeant as an enlisted soldier before being selected to become a logistics officer. During multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, I was able to obtain a Bachelor’s of Health Science from Campbell University in 2001 and a Master’s in Management from Webster University in 2004. Having learned a vast array of leadership and business skills from my time as a Soldier, I retired from the Army in 2015. Being a believer and advocate for lifelong learning, I will earn my MBA from Texas A&M, Central Texas this Spring.

I was stationed with my wife Sondra--a fellow Army officer--in Killeen in 2008, where we decided to raise our 2 sons--Khalen and Khristian--and educate them in Killeen public schools. As a father, I decided to put my passion for service towards the future of our community by starting a small business franchise dedicated to raising funds for elementary and middle school students by delivering a leadership and fitness-focused curriculum. I successfully built this franchise before selling it, and becoming a teacher and football and baseball coach at Copperas Cove High School.

Aside from my career, I have enjoyed dedicating my spare time to being a volunteer football and baseball coach for Killeen community youth leagues as well as serving as the President of our local chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic Council and director of the local Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity’s Kappa League Mentorship Program.

Working hard for the future of our children and our community for over a decade, I understand what Killeen residents expect from our City. The lack of job opportunity and stop-gap public spending is preventing Killeen families from realizing our full potential. We need someone with the experience to lead to step up and take action to build the future Killeen deserves. That is why I am running and why I ask for your support.
